Practical Rehabilitation Techniques for the Animal Chiropractic Patient

October 1-2, 2015

This course will explore today’s modern approach to theories of animal rehabilitation. Some of these theories include the use physical therapy equipment and methods. General knowledge in the use of these methods and equipment will be discussed.

This course qualifies for 15 CE/CPD Hours by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) (Pending) and the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA) (Approved).

9:00 – 10:00 History, theory and opportunities in animal rehabilitation (Travis + Kyla)
10:00 – 10:30 Soft tissue considerations; immobilization, remobilization and healing (Travis)
11:30 – 12:00 Overview of rehabilitation modalities (Travis & Kyla)
12:00 – 1:00 Lunch
1:00 – 2:00 Canine patient assessment: History, signalment evaluation, goals & expectations (Travis)
2:00 – 3:00 Equine patient assessment: History, signalment evaluation, goals & expectations (Kyla)
3:00 – 4:00 Patient assessment lab: equine and canine (Travis & Kyla)
4:00 – 5:00 Advanced biomechanics and core training in the equine athlete (Kyla)
5:00 – 6:00 Integration of chiropractic and rehabilitation techniques for the equine patient (Kyla)
Friday (7 Hours) 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
8:30 – 9:30 Therapeutic exercise: Considerations for targeted strengthening and improving (Travis)
9:30 – 10:30 Therapeutic exercise lab – canine (Travis)
10:30 – 12:00 Equine therapeutic exercise lecture: in-hand and under saddle exercises (Kyla)

1:00 – 2:00 Therapeutic exercise lab – equine ( Kyla)
2:00 – 4:30 Integration of chiropractic and rehabilitation techniques for the small animal neurologic (Travis)
